At the start of 2018, I set out to find THE BEST wedding venues in North Carolina. Well, what I found is that every wedding has different requirements to fit the bill of perfection. As a wedding photographer I have come to know, what works for one, may not work for the next and that’s perfectly fine. There are plenty of perfect wedding venues in North Carolina, just depends on what you are looking for.
I typically shoot intimate ceremonies and most have less than 100 guests, including the wedding party. Here you’ll find my list of top wedding venues for 2018 and why they made the list. In alphabetical order:
Barclay Villa, Angier, North Carolina
Barclay Villa is located 30 minutes south of Downtown Raleigh, in just outside of the Wake County line in Harnett County. From the time you drive up you feel a sense of belonging. The staff provide an amazing experience for you and your guests. The grounds are impeccably maintained and the gardens and villa itself provide amazing backdrops for your perfect day. Barclay Villa boasts indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception locations that exude feelings of royalty.
Bass Lake Park, Holly Springs, North Carolina
Bass Lake Park is located 30 minutes south of Downtown Raleigh, in Wake County. The Conference Center rental provides use of the conference room and the wrap around deck that overlooks Bass Lake. The covered deck is white and maintains a white, covered gazebo for a simple, yet elegant feel. Bass Lake is a beautiful place for a wedding and with the benefits of indoor use for receptions and covered outdoor options you can’t go wrong. There is also a nature trail that circles the lake. As an added bonus, sunsets from the deck are stunning.
Forest Hall at Chatham Mills, Pittsboro, North Carolina
Forest Hall at Chatham Mills is located about 40 minutes southwest of Downtown Raleigh, in neighboring Chatham County. It’s no secret that as a photographer, I fell in love with this venue as soon as they opened their doors. Forest Hall provides indoor and outdoor options for your ceremony and reception. The venue has stunning exposed brick and wood beams. It is a fairly new venue, but its owners are not new to the industry. Aneesa and Nathan also have a wedding planning business that allow them to help you in a way that not all venues can. They specialize in helping you achieve the perfect wedding, without breaking the bank. Allow them to take care of you, you won’t be disappointed.
Highgrove Estate, Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina
Highgrove Estate is located 30 minutes south of Downtown Raleigh, in Wake County. Couples love this place for any number of reasons, one of my favorite features is the spiral staircase. Highgrove, with onsite staff, can do it all. They have culinary staff to ensure execution of the most fabulous reception. Truly a complete experience, whether you are planning for 35 or 200 guests. The grounds are stunning and wedding worthy. Highgrove offers chandeliers, a grand ballroom, brick patios…did I mention a spiral staircase? Elegance is a given, so don’t overlook this gorgeous venue.
Preston Woodall House, Benson, NC
Preston Woodall House is located 35 minutes southeast of Downtown Raleigh, in neighboring Johnston County. Complete with cottages, bedrooms and a bridal suite, this place has it all. If you want to nestle away for a weekend or just the day of, Joel and his staff at Preston Woodall House can make your dreams come true. The venue has an Executive Chef and an Events Manager on site to make for seamless wedding planning. The southern hospitality is as welcoming as the grounds themselves. Everyone at Preston Woodall is client focused. You and your guest will surely appreciate the attention to detail. Fountains, foyers, ballrooms and gardens make for a storybook wedding.
Each of these locations have indoor and outdoor options for the ceremony and reception. This list is not inclusive of ALL North Carolina options, but it is sure a good place to start.
